Samsung Pay Release Date News: Expanding Mobile Payment Service In The US

Samsung is aiming to widen the reach of its digital wallet service even more despite already being the most used mobile payment service in the US.

According to CIO Today, the company recently said that it has plans to support online transactions with Samsung Pay and also provide its payment service to more mobile devices in 2016. Right now, the service is only applicable to the brand's high-end devices which are the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

Samsung's global co-manager of Samsung Pay, Thomas Ko, told Reuters that Samsung envisions a lot more hand-held devices having their Samsung pay services in 2016. This would mean that even the lower-end devices can have this feature installed. Samsung Pay debuted in South Korea in the first part of 2015. Meanwhile, the service became a bit popular in some parts of the U.S. in the latter part of the year.

Samsung now has a deal with China's UnionPay bank. The deal would let customers add their credit or debit cards to their electronic wallet accounts. The sad part about it is that they could only take advantage of that service in their country as of now, since the service has not expanded in other areas of the world yet.

Right now, there's no update yet on where Samsung would take its service next. It's also not known yet if Samsung will limit the service to in-app payments. Will they be interested to innovate their product in a similar way to Paypal?
