Samsung New Smartphone News, Rumors: Tech Titan to Launch Foldable/Bendable Devices Next Year?
With the launch of curved display smartphones some years back, Samsung has made significant inroads in the mobile display market. Now, a latest report hints that the South Korean tech giant is planning to replace its curved display phones with foldable handsets next year.
Tech Radar reports that it is rumored that by next year, Samsung will be prepared to launch foldable display smartphones. Citing a Samsung Display executive, a Korean source said that this official has apparently claimed that commercial versions of the foldable display will be out on the market by 2016.
A few years back, Samsung revealed the concepts of its YOUM display. Hence, it can be assumed that the foldable display has been in development for quite some time now. Tech enthusiasts as well as experts are now interested in knowing how the South Korean tech manufacturer will be incorporating the technology into its smartphones.
However, it is apparent that Samsung will use this new technology with an Android device, because this is what the company did when it launched its first curved display phone, the Galaxy Round.
Nevertheless, it would certainly be prudent to use this technology on larger devices like tablets, as it will offer more room for users to play around with. In fact, foldable devices will enable users to carry large displays in a much smaller form, because both sides of the device can be utilized as and when needed.
Samsung's rival and another South Korean tech manufacturer LG is also said to be making satisfactory progress in the curved display segment. Hence, it is possible that the tech enthusiasts may see something similar from the company over the coming months.
