Samsung New Device News: Tech Titan May Unveil New Galaxy Note 5 at 'Unpacked' Event on Aug. 13
Samsung has announced that it will host an "Unpacked" event on Aug. 13. While the South Korean tech titan has already sent out invitations to the media to cover the upcoming event, it is widely expected that the company may announce a slew of devices, including the Galaxy Note 5, on the occasion.
IB Times reports that as expected, the tech titan has announced an "Unpacked" event for Aug. 13, where it is likely to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 alongside other devices, which Samsung hopes will facilitate it in competing against the next iPhone.
Usually, Samsung announces its Galaxy Note devices, which include screens characteristically larger than 5 inches, towards the end of the year at the IFA electronics conference in Berlin. However, during the past year, Apple has been routing smartphone sales with its hugely popular iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices. Moreover, it is expected that Apple will announce new iPhones in September. Therefore, Samsung is of the view that by announcing the Galaxy Note 5 in August, it will be in a better position to contend against the iPhone.
As far as the specs of the Galaxy Note 5 are concerned, is expected that the device will sport a 5.7-inch screen with high-definition resolution. According to reports, the Note 5 is also expected to include a 16-megapixel rear camera as well as a stylus, which ejects automatically.
In addition to the Galaxy Note 5, Samsung is also likely to announce the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus - the larger version of its Galaxy S6 Edge device featuring a curved screen. It is also expected that the South Korean tech giant will announce a new variant of the Samsung Gear VR headset, which will work with the Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung is holding the "Unpacked" event at 10:00 a.m. EDT in New York City.
