Samsung Gear S2 Specs & Release Date News: Upcoming Smartwatch Looks Classy and High-Priced [VIDEO]
While Samsung's upcoming smartwatch, Gear 2, has been teased several time, potential customers are now getting the best look at the device in photographs posted recently on Instagram.
The Verge says that the most recent Instagram photo posted by Samsung executive Dennis Miloseski offers an extreme closeup of the Gear S2. A metal frame is apparent around the smartwatch's display. A couple of buttons can also be spotted on the side of the device. It is expected that these buttons will help users interact with the operating system.
According to reports, the Gear S2 is likely to be powered by Samsung's patented Tizen operating system rather than using the Android Wear operating system. Apparently, the latest version of Tizen is cleaner as well as more refined compared to the previous versions of the operating system. Digital Spy reports that the Gear S2 seems to have been inspired by the Apple Watch more than ever before.
The new Samsung smartphone may incorporate an optional heart rate monitor into its rear casing. It is expected that this option is aimed at targeting fitness enthusiasts and athletes.
Users can talk to their Gear S2 without taking out their phones from their pockets. In other words, the users can have conversations with the smartwatch rather than their phone. Samsung's S Voice assistant is the South Korean tech titan's answer to Apple's Siri and it will enable users to ask the watch to perform specific tasks for them.
In addition, users can rotate the bezel on the Gear S2 to control specific functions on the smartwatch.
Earlier in August, Samsung posted a video hinting at the features of the Gear S2. This video mentions about making calls on the device, health features, weather and much more.
According to Android Authority, the Gear S2 is expected to be officially unveiled the Gear S2 at the IFA 2015 event in Berlin on Sept. 3.
