Samsung Gear S2 Release Date: Smartwatch Launched In Rose Gold and Platinum Versions Price At $449.99

Samsung is known for being one of the biggest tech companies to have pioneered the use of mobile handsets and devices in modern time. Amidst the continuous success of its flagship gadgets, they are now unveiling a new product that consumers will likely want to get hold of.

The South Korean tech titan is introducing its Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch in Rose Gold and Platinum editions, which became available Friday at $449.99, reports The Verge.

Meanwhile, the standard stainless steel version remains at the lower price of $349.99. Samsung fans can grab either one of the versions either via Samsung's Official Website, Amazon, Macy's, or Best Buy.

Apart from their more sophisticated look, the new versions include an 18k rose gold model with an ivory-colored leather band, while the platinum model is paired with a black leather band.

Both versions are merely plated however, and not solid gold or platinum, hence why it is far more affordable that Apple's pure 18k gold watch edition that is for sale at $10,000.

Samsung also revealed that the smartwatches have the same specs as Gear S2 and S2 Classic which were released in 2015. The smartwatch is compatible with most devices running Android 4.4 KitKat and Samsung says it will be compatible with iPhone later in 2016.

Meanwhile, the company's rumored flagship devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge are also making headlines for the past few weeks.

The Note 6 will be out in Europe soon, Inquirer reports, while the Galaxy S7 Edge is rumored to be announced at the Mobile World Congress which will take place soon.
