Samsung Gear S2 & S2 Classic Launch News: Tech Titan to Release Two New Smartwatches
The time has finally come for many tech aficionados as the Samsung Gear S2 and the S2 Classic are ready to be launched in the United States. While the devices have already been unveiled, techies had to wait until October 2 to pick them up in the U.S.
For those that may not know, Samsung first unveiled the devices at its pre-IFA press conference last August. Now that some time has passed, the tech titan has decided that it's time to test out the waters with the smartwatches in the U.S.
Stepping into some of the specs of the wearable tech, the Gear S2 a standard 1.2-inch touchscreen display with a 302ppi resolution and packs a 1GHz dual-core Exynos processor which is supported by 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
The devices run on the Tizen mobile OS and are compatible with Android devices that rank 4.4 or higher. Some of the features users will be able to harness are its ability to make calls even when they are not connected to a smartphone.
The device has a rotating bezel that helps users navigate its UI and scroll through the menu that's full of options and settings.
Beyond all that, the device has a super AMOLED touchscreen while the entire device is water-resistant and equipped with fitness tracking apps and sensors. Many users will find this device prime for their daily health tracking needs.
Last but not least, the Gear S2 packs a 250mAh batter which will most likely last for three whole days (regular use). The watches come in color variants dark gray, silver, and black, and feature stainless steel casings and interchangeable straps.
The devices can be bought online at Amazon, Best Buy, Samsung Online for $299.99 (Gear S2). The Gear S2 Classic on the other hand runs a little more at $349.99.
