Samsung Gear A Update News: Upcoming Smartwatch Rumored to Have ‘Rotating Circular Dial’
Even as news and rumors regarding the release of Samsung Galaxy S6 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 phablet continue to flood the Internet, the South Korean tech titan in gearing up to launch a new smartphone - the Galaxy Gear A, also referred to as Orbis. It is expected that the wearable device will be released at Samsung's upcoming special event on Aug. 13.
According to a report in IB Times, the vital configuration details regarding the Samsung Gear A were recently leaked online.
A recent report in Sam Mobile claimed that the Samsung Gear A is likely to come in a round or curved shape. Some time back, the South Korean tech titan introduced a latest Tizen UI, which is specific to smartwatches with a round dial. As of now, Samsung has only released square or rectangular shaped smartwatches. Nevertheless, Samsung has now "indirectly confirmed" that the future device may perhaps boast a "rotating circular dial," which is also called a "bezel ring." According to Phone Arena, this ring can supposedly be used to cycle through open apps.
The Sam Mobile report further states that at the Tizen Developer Summit 2015 held in Bangalore, India, Samsung had confirmed the likelihood of the next smartwatch of the company with a rotating dial, albeit it was never rumored that the rotating dial would be a part of the Galaxy A Gear. It appears that this configuration has been incorporated as a means of controlling Samsung's proprietary OS - the Tizen operating system version 2.3.1. Anyway, as of now Samsung is yet to confirm the available of this hardware and whether it will help produce seamless app switching.
Currently, speculations are rife regarding the expected features of the Samsung Galaxy Gear A. It is likely that the device will be powered by a dual-core Exynos processor and backed by 768 MB of RAM. In terms of memory, the upcoming smartwatch will be equipped with 4GB of built-in storage capacity. In addition, it will accommodate a 250 mAh battery unit.
The Samsung Gear A is expected to sport a circular 360 x 360 screen. Other key features of the device include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 2G cellular connectivity.
