Samsung Galaxy S7 Update News: Next Samsung Flagship Smartphone to Come in Two Chipset Variants
If latest reports come true, Samsung will launch its upcoming flagship handset, Galaxy S7, in early 2016. Speculations are rife that Samsung Galaxy S7 in two chipset variants - one with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and the second with the South Korean tech titan's proprietary Exynos processor.
Quoting a report in G for Games, IB Times states that Samsung is meticulously testing the Galaxy S7 with Snapdragon 820. According to early rumors, the Snapdragon 820 variant will target specific overseas markets, while the Exynos chip variant will be released solely for the South Korean consumers.
The website also reported that Samsung is enthusiastically testing the Snapdragon 820 chip at its labs with a view to prove that the newer chip is not plagued by overheating problems. As the Snapdragon 810 chip is infamous for creating thermal heating problems, LG Electronics launched its LG G4 flagship with Snapdragon 808 chip, while Samsung launched its current flagship Galaxy S6 with Exynos 7420 chipset.
However, the Snapdragon 820 will not come with the Cortex-based architecture like its predecessors -Snapdragon 810 and 808 chipsets. Instead it will feature eight cores of Kyro processor. Meanwhile, there are rumors that suggest that the Snapdragon 820 will come with four Hydra cores and Adreno 530 GPU. According to these rumors, the processor will be built with 14 nm FinFET technology.
Samsung has code named Galaxy S7 as Jungfrau, and Android Geeks reported that the device is expected to come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS onboard. Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 5 earlier this month with the objective of achieving better sales, rather than clashing its release with the upcoming iPhone 6S in September.
It has been a pattern with Samsung to use the Mobile World Congress (MWC) platform to announce its Galaxy S series flagship. Other Android OEMs also use the same platform to announce their flagships. Nevertheless, Samsung is gearing to announce the Galaxy 7 in January or February 2016 in order to have an advantage over its rivals.
