Samsung Galaxy S6 Update: Reports Hint New Samsung Smartphone May Come with 20-Megapixel OIS Camera
It a recent report is to be believed, Samsung Galaxy S6, the upcoming flagship smartphone of the South Korean tech titan may sport 20-megapixel camera boasting optical image stabilization (OIS) technology. The report further claimed that the much-anticipated handset may possibly be launched immediately after its expected announcement in March 2015.
IB Times quotes South Korea's ET News claiming that a subsidiary of the Samsung Group known as Samsung Electro-Mechanics (SEM is currently developing a 20-megapixel OIS camera module. It is expected that the new OIS camera module will help in augmenting Samsung' s growth during 2015 first quarter, as it is very likely that the company will release the Galaxy S6 two to three weeks earlier than its scheduled date.
According to a report by ET News, the Galaxy S6 may be released some time in March with the 20-megapixel OIS camera. On the other hand, another Korean publication, The Chosunilbo recently claimed that Samsung may announce the upcoming Galaxy S6 smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 2. Apart from the regular Galaxy S6 model, it is also expected that Samsung will introduce another waterproof Galaxy S6 Active version at a later date.
If the report turns out to be true and the Galaxy S6 sports a 20-megapixel camera, the device will be competing against the next-generation LG Electronics phone LG G4, which is also likely to sport a 20 megapixel camera module with OIS technology. LG had showcased the LG Innotek recently.
It is worth mentioning here that the mobile business of Samsung has suffered considerably during the last few quarters and, hence, it is expected that the company is now planning a completely upgraded Galaxy S6, which has been code-named "Project Zero." There are rumors that the company will be making notable changes in the upcoming, which will possibly include a fingerprint sensor, a new version with a curved display and even a payment system similar to Apple Pay.
In addition, there are rumors that suggesting that the Galaxy S6 may sport a larger, 5.5-inch QHD display rendering a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, a 5-megapixel front camera, 3GB RAM and run on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system.
