Samsung Galaxy S6+ Update News: New Device to Come with Larger Display & Lower Price

South Korean tech titan is expected to unveil two large-screen smartphones - the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5 - at its upcoming "Unpacked" event to be held in New York on Aug. 13. According to a report in Tech Radar, the upcoming Galaxy S6 Edge+ is expected to carry a more affordable price tag compared to the previous Samsung devices.

According to Latin Post, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ incorporate several features found in the Galaxy S6 Edge, but the device will come with a bigger screen. One of the unique design features of the Galaxy S6 Edge is that its screen is capable of displaying notifications, which can be glanced at easily. The curved sides of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ are another unique feature.

The Galaxy S6 Edge+ screen will be increased to 5.7 inches and it will have a Quad-HD display. The device will also have the curved edges of Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

Meanwhile, Samsung has acknowledged that it plans to start adjust the prices of its devices following reports of disappointing sales figures for its mobile phones division in the Q2 2015.

According to SamMobile, a website dedicated to Samsung products, reported that the 32 GB model of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will carry a price tag of about $875, without a contract. This price tag is inexpensive compared to the off-contract price for the Galaxy S6 Edge, which comes for about $1,070.

The price reductions of Samsung may perhaps come across the board on all the popular devices of the company, counting the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy S6 Edge+.

It is expected that the price reduction of the Galaxy S6 Edge, which has only been around since April, as well as an updated version of it with a bigger screen and a cheaper price may enthuse some potential buyers.

In addition, it has been reported that the time gap between the Aug. 13 date and the actual sale date of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be very insignificant. According to Techno Buffalo, the S6 Edge+ will start selling on Aug. 21, while the Galaxy Note 5 is also expected to be on the shelves around the same time.
