Samsung Galaxy S6 Specs Rumors: New Fingerprint Scanner to Combat Apple's Touch ID Feature
Remember the coveted fingerprint scanner that made waves in Apple's market? Well, Samsung is apparently not too far behind as they are going to introduce their version of the feature in their upcoming device.
Samsung has provided fingerprint scanners for several of its mobile devices in the past, all the way back to Galaxy S5, but the security technology wasn't always error-free. With multiple identification issues marring Samsung's reputation, could the rumors that Samsung will bring touch-based scanners back to life be true?
According to Sam Mobile, Samsung may provide fingerprint scanners for the new and improved Galaxy S6, hopefully error-free.
The Galaxy S6 scanner will be like the Touch ID on Apple's iPhones, requiring an entire fingerprint for accurate identification. Like Samsung's earlier models, the phone company's device will allow fingerprints to be read from different angles, and will be found in the home button.
The updated phone model will have a slightly bigger home button to provide an easier experience. Users will no longer have to swipe or tap to gain access to their phone - they simply have to place their fingertip on the button and it will unlock. If Samsung has managed to improve their fingerprint verification process, they may be on to something big.
However, Samsung has not officially reported any new updates to the fingerprint scanner. The Galaxy S6 should carry through the same features as the S5, such as web sign-in, private mode, secure payments via PayPal and other account verifications.
If Samsung can improve security for its mobile devices, the company might be able to take control of a larger market. Perhaps it may even move into Apple's market.
