Samsung Galaxy S6 Specs, Launch Rumors: Wireless Charging Feature on Flagship Smartphone?

Consumers have been anxiously awaiting an efficient way to charge their phones without the hassle of unraveling chords and carrying bulky chargers. Last morning on the Samsung Tomorrow blog, the company announced that their advancements of wireless charging could be featured on the Samsung Galaxy S6, which is going to launch in the coming month or so.

Samsung has been working on wireless charging since 2000. Technology had to catch up with the idea first and that finally happened in 2011 when charging pads for Droid Charge occurred in the Unites States. These charging covers and pads were core accessories with the Galaxy Note 3 and 4 and the Galaxy S4 and S5.

Arguably the most important part of the news is the merger with Alliance for Wireless Power and Power Matter Alliance. Samsung is a member with Wireless Power Consortium, which have also helped to improve wireless charging over the past years. Over the years, components for wireless charging have been reduced from 80 separate components to only 50 for the Galaxy S5.

According to Samsung Tomorrow, wireless charging three years ago was only twenty to thirty percent as fast as wired charging. Since then, the charging speed has been doubled.

Samsung is trying to bring wireless charging to everyone by putting charging pads in chain stores such as McDonald's. Aaron Mamiit of Tech Times said, "Wireless charging works by placing the smartphone on a wireless charging pad. Through magnetic induction, a current will flow between the pad and the smartphone's battery to charge up the device."

Consumers are very excited to see how these new wireless charging pads will work with the Samsung Galaxy S6.
