Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date: Reports Suggest Samsung May Unveil Two Galaxy S6 Variants at CES 2015

Recent reports via South Korean media suggests that Samsung may announce the release date of its upcoming flagship smartphone, Galaxy S6, at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 scheduled to be held next month.

According to IBTimes, a report by the Korean online publication Chosun Biz claims that Samsung may unveil the Galaxy S6 at the CES 2015 in Las Vegas from Jan. 6 to Jan. 9. The report further claimed that Samsung S6 may be launched with a curved screen option - having a dual-edged display - something akin to that of the Galaxy Note 4 Edge.

In fact, it is expected that Samsung might release the two variants of the Galaxy S6 earlier than the expected date with a view to get a competitive edge over its competitors. According to G4Games, the South Korean tech giant has changed its strategy after experiencing poor sales during 2014. The website further stated that the Galaxy S6 as well as the rumored "Galaxy S6 Edge" will incorporate components developed in-house.

Quoting analysts, the G4Games report speculated that Samsung will possibly be shipping 45 million Galaxy S6 units during 2015. It is expected that 10 million of these units will be of the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Meanwhile, SamMobile reports that Samsung is unlikely to unveil the Galaxy S6 at the CES 2015. On the contrary, the launch of the handset may be announced sometime during the end of February or beginning of March next year.

While Samsung has not made any announcement regarding the launch of Galaxy S6 or reveal its specs, the details the upcoming smartphone was available with AnTuTu benchmark. The details are said to be of the Samsung Galaxy S6 model for the European market with model number SM-G925F.

A screenshot of the smartphone on AnTuTu page reveals the specs of the Galaxy S6. The photograph suggests that the upcoming smartphone will possibly feature a larger, display - a 5.5-inch QHD with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It will come with a 20-MP rear camera and a 5-MP front camera.

It has been reported that the device will be powered by a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor and run on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. It will have a 3GB RAM and be available in a 32GB version.
