Samsung Galaxy S6 Price Rumors: New Flagship Smartphone to Cost $50 More than Galaxy S5?
Samsung has announced that it will release its latest flagship smartphone the Galaxy S6 on April 10, but how much are you prepared to spend for it? If the details provided by T-Mobile are correct, you would be required to pay a little more than what you paid for the previous model Galaxy S5.
Currently, T-Mobile is promoting the Galaxy S6 in a bargain deal. The rules of the contest have put the estimated retail price of Samsung Galaxy S6 at $699. Those interested in participating in the contest are required to sign up with their full name, email address and phone number. The few lucky winners will only have to pay a few hundred dollars, reports IB Times.
Usually, the price of Smartphones in the Samsung Galaxy S line in the U.S. has anything between $599.99 and $649.99 off contract and between $199.99 and $249.99 with a two-year contract. Some reports hint that this time there is a possibility of a price increase for the Galaxy S6 owing to the device's latest design, enhanced features as well as new services like Samsung Pay.
Other details related to the price of the Samsung Galaxy S6 suggest that the base model - 32GB Galaxy S6 may be available for roughly $699 in the US. When the Samsung Galaxy S5 was launched in April 2014 it was sold for $650 in the U.S.
It is important to note that the Galaxy S6 is the first smartphone in the Galaxy S line that has 32GB of internal storage as its base model, and this may be responsible for the possible price increase of the upcoming device. All previous Galaxy S models came with a base model having 16GB of internal storage.
It is expected that the Galaxy S6 64GB model will be priced $882. In addition, Samsung has also introduced a 128GB storage capacity - something new for the Galaxy S line, for its most expensive model, which will possibly sell for $993.
In addition, the Galaxy S6 Edge, which was announced alongside the Galaxy S6 on last Sunday, is also expected to be quite expensive. This device has a dual-curved display; and the 32GB model should sell for $937, while the 64GB model may be available for $1,047 and the 128GB model will possibly sold for $1,440. This pricing should not be surprising because when the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was launched in October 2014, it was sold for $950.
When the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are released on April 10, the devices will be available in 20 countries and be available in other markets later.
Meanwhile, top U.S carriers like T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, U.S. Cellular and Cricket have confirmed that they will offer the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
