Samsung Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 Edge Availability News: Verizon to Start Accepting Pre-Orders on April 1
The U.S. carrier Verizon Wireless has announced that it will start accepting pre-orders for the latest Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones, which were unveiled ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2015 on March 1, starting April 1.
According to IB Times, both the Samsung handsets come with new designs as well as several improved hardware and software components that the South Korean company hopes will help it to attract customers it lost in 2014. Meanwhile, the major U.S. mobile networks appear to be very excited about the latest Samsung devices and have advertised them even before they were announced.
Earlier last week, Verizon announced that it will start offering the Galaxy S6 as well as Galaxy S6 Edge at the beginning of the second quarter, but it did not give any hint regarding whether the devices would be available on Samsung's selected release date.
In the meantime, Samsung has announced that said the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones will go on sale April 10 in 20 countries, but it is usual for certain markets to have their individual release dates. In fact, U.S. carriers often do this with a view to have exclusive marketing control, at least for a short time.
However, Verizon is yet to announce the price of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge on its network. It is expected that the carriers will charge no less than $699 for the Galaxy S6, as T-Mobile has already put a retail value of approximately $699 on the smartphone within the rules of a giveaway contest hosted by the network.
Typically, a Samsung Galaxy S line smartphone has been priced between $599.99 and $649.99 without any contract and anything between $199.99 and $249.99 with a two-year contract in the U.S. As the two new devices have several upgrades, their pricing may go up further. In addition, it is a foregone fact that the dual-curve display of the Galaxy S6 Edge will automatically be costlier compared to its Galaxy S6 sibling.
The marketing material of Verizon for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge suggests that the devices will be available in two color options - white and black. However, Samsung has announced that these smartphones will be available in five color options - white, black, blue, gold and green.
