Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Bend Test Video, News: Tech Titan Counters Square Trade’s Claims [VIDEO]
Samsung appears to be keen to prove all reports about the bend tests of its latest flagship smartphone Galaxy S6 Edge wrong. Recently, a San Francisco-based extended warranty service provider Square Trade undertook a bend test of the device and it order to disapprove it, the South Korean tech titan released a video on Monday, which claimed that the results of the former's test did not provide an real picture of the durability of the device.
According to IB Times, last week, a number of media reports stated that new Galaxy S6 Edge suffered from what they dubbed as "Bendgate" - problem that plagued Apple's iPhone 6 Plus not long back. The bend video test of the Galaxy S6 Edge by Square Trade formed the basis of these reports. Square Trade video test demonstrated that the device breaks under pressure of 110 pounds.
On the other hand, Samsung has put forth the argument that the video from Square Trade just makes a hypothesis of the force, which actually does not happen under normal circumstances. Samsung further claimed, the usual force generated when a person presses the back pocket is roughly 66 pounds.
A statement released by the South Korean company read, "Our internal test results indicate that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are not bendable even under 79lbf (32kgf), which is equivalent to putting pressure to snap a bundle of five pencils at once."
In fact, Samsung has further claimed that Square Trade's test did not demonstrate the potency of the rear side of the Galaxy S6 Edge although in average circumstances both front as well as the back sides of the device are exposed to equal pressure.
According to the South Korean tech giant, "Some smartphones have different durability in each the front and back sides respectively." Samsung further said, "Square Trade has only tested the front side, which may mislead consumers about the entire durability of smartphones."
Meanwhile, Samsung has also asked Square Trade to conduct another bend test targeting both front and back sides of the device, and make the test results public.
