Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date, Design Rumors: Launching Thinner & Taller Flagship Device in March?
While the South Korean tech titan Samsung is reportedly gearing up for the release of its upcoming flagship smartphone Galaxy S6 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona early next month, latest leaks of the much-awaited device show that it may come with an entirely new design and several updated specs.
According to IB Times, the Korean company is reportedly planning a sleeker design for the upcoming Galaxy S6 compared to the existing Galaxy S5. The schematics of the purported device leaked by Nowhereelese says that the device will come with a slimmer body having narrower sides as well as tighter bezels. In fact, the French website claimed that they've obtained the graphic that was used to build smartphone cases and it suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will come with a faintly taller screen too.
The site claims that the upcoming Galaxy S6 is likely to be 12.5 percent slimmer compared to its predecessor. The Galaxy S5 measures 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm (5.59 x 2.85 x 0.32-inches), while the Galaxy S6 may be sized at 143.52 x 70.7 x 7.19 mm (5.65 x 2.78 x 0.28-inches), it reports.
In case the Galaxy S6 turns out to be true, the new device will retain the basic shape of the S5, but the upcoming smartphone is likely to have an upgraded body. It will have an aluminum casing, instead of the usual plastic. In addition, Samsung may position the device's battery in a manner that customers will not be able replace it. At the same time, the device will not offer the facility of increasing its storage space using flash memory cards.
The purported schematics of the smartphone posted by Nowhereelese show a larger space for the camera, which actually is in line with earlier rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will come with a 20-megapixel main camera. Moreover, earlier reports claimed that Samsung was also considering a Galaxy S6 Edge, which will be a curved variant of the flagship smartphone having a screen that extends to both edges.
Recently, Samsung announced that the upcoming Galaxy S6 would be an "innovative premium handset" that would be launched at a "special function." According to the Korea Herald, the company probably referred to the dual-curve display adding that Samsung is likely to an Exynos chip in the Galaxy S6 removing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 owing to "overheating problems."
