Samsung Galaxy S6 Active Features, Rumors: Tech Titan Working on Water-Resistant - Bigger Battery Variant?
If a recent report by SamMobile, a tech site devoted to Samsung smartphones, is to be believed, Samsung is reportedly working on a new handset that will come with a gigantic battery and water resistant certification.
It's been only a week since the South Korean tech titan launched its flagship mobile devices, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. Both these devices come with impressive premium body and specs, but lack impressive battery and water-resistant certification.
IB Times reports that the purported device has been dubbed as Samsung Galaxy S6 Active and carries the model number SM-G890A. The new device will have a relatively larger dimension display as well as a gigantic battery inside.
Different from the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, the purported Galaxy S6 Active is expected to come with a larger 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, but having the same resolution as the former devices. In addition, the Galaxy S6 Active is also expected to be equipped with a 3500 mAh battery, and have an IP67 certification. In other words, the upcoming device will be able to resist dirt, dusts, water, scratches, and more.
Apart from the above mentioned specs, the purported Galaxy S6 Active is also likely to be thicker as well as bigger compared to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Compared to the Galaxy S6, which measures 70.5x143.4x6.8 mm, the new Galaxy S6 Active will measure 73.6x146.9x8.8 mm. As of now, there is no information regarding the possible weight of the device.
The other specs of the purported Galaxy S6 Active include the same Octa-Core Exynos 7420 SoC, 3GB LPDDR4 RAM, 32GB of in-built storage and 16MP rear, 5MP front cameras, which are present in the other two variants of Galaxy S6. According to SamMobile, the upcoming smartphone is likely to be launched with AT&T network first, while an unlocked version will be made available later.
