Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update News: Sprint Devices Receive Google's Latest OS
Last week, AT&T announced that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update was ready for download on the LG G3, and on Tuesday, Sprint let their customers know that the highly anticipated update was now available for their Samsung Galaxy S5 devices.
John Callaham of Android Central said, "The download size for the update is 898.44MB and owners of the Galaxy S5 will need 3GB of free internal storage to install it. Sprint's message also states that after Lollipop is installed, the phone will have its available storage space reduced by at least 950MB."
According to the Android 5.0 Lollipop website, this major update from Android consists of several of the following new features: a cleaner looking UI design, longer battery life, better Internet connectivity, improved audio and video, increased security, flexible device sharing, smoother runtimes, support for Android TV, and much more.
Positive reviews of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update have been received throughout the technological community. Engaget's Brad Molen said he liked the new design, "Google says this kind of cohesiveness breeds visual harmony, and I have to agree."
The Android 5.0 Lollipop has been available since November, with Verizon and Motorola being among the first to receive the update. However, each phone manufacturer and carrier has had to modify the software. With that in mind, the updates are slowly making their way to the many phone brands and carriers out there.
While those who have newer devices enjoy the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, others will have to patiently wait until the update comes to more phone carriers in the coming weeks.
