Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Release Date, Specs News: Phablet Cancellation Rumors Not True; Successor Arriving 2017

Samsung has undeniably gone through a disastrous period recently. Considering the widespread battery issues leading to fires and explosions of the Galaxy Note 7, it is pretty understandable that consumers will feel apprehensive when it comes to succeeding devices. However, the South Korean tech giant continues to ensure that it provides the best post-release service it can offer to its loyal customers.

Recent reports suggest that Samsung is now even willing to trade in the Note 7 for a Note 8 as soon as the latter arrives in 2017, putting an end to rumors that the recent massive recall of Note 7 would be the end of the Galaxy Note series.

Despite the issues surrounding the series, it looks like Galaxy Note 8 is bound to happen whether by hook or by crook. A statement released by Samsung recently stated that via the company's update program, Note 7 owners can trade their devices with Galaxy S7 units, hence allowing them to trade it in for a Note 8 or an S8 at half the original price. This seems to have already confirmed that the Note series will still continue despite recent rumors of being cancelled.

As of this writing, official details of the Galaxy Note 8 have not been revealed yet. However, Cnet recently reported that the successor might not be called Note 8 so as to avoid confusion with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 which was released in 2013.

As for its specs, Note 8 is reportedly carrying a Snapdragon 830 or an Exynos 8895 processor and comes with a 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM. The phablet is also rumored to retain some of the features of Note 7, including the Always-On display.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to arrive next year.
