Samsung Galaxy Note 7 News: Device To Upgrade To Android Nougat

The Galaxy Note 7 was still powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box but fret not Samsung fans, as the device will be upgraded to Nougat sooner than later, at least according to the latest news.

In a press conference in South Korea, Koh Dong-jin, Samsung Electronics president for mobile communications, told news reporters that they are always aiming to update their devices to the latest OS. That means switching to the Android Nougat "in two to three months" time.

But why so long?

Apparently, they are still testing the Android Nougat on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to make sure that it's going to be stable.

"That's why we are planning to do enough beta testing before any OS updates," he added.

In related news, the Samsung exec said that they are thinking about piloting the 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage Galaxy Note 7 for the Chinese market. If true, this device is substantially more powerful than the standard 64 GB released worldwide. The Chinese market is unique in the sense that there's a lot of devices that are more powerful so the South Korean company needs to match up to compete.

But an alleged company spokesman told TechRadar that the announcement to launch a 6 GB and 128 GB Galaxy Note was more of a company plan rather than a done deal.

"For now, the only variant of the Galaxy Note 7 that will be available is the 4GB/64GB variant announced on August 2," the spokesperson added.
