Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Feature Rumors: New Phablet with Superior Processor Unveiled at IFA 2015?
With the release date of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 drawing closer, speculations regarding the specifications and features of the next phablet from the South Korean tech manufacturer. Interestingly, there is more curiosity among gadget lovers, especially fans of the Galaxy Note series following recent the patent filings by Samsung.
According to IB Times, while Samsung is still mum on the release date of the Galaxy Note 5, speculations are rife that the device will come sometime in 2015 third quarter. Many reports have claimed that the phablet will be unveiled at the 10-day IFA 2015 trade show scheduled to be held in Berlin from September 4 and it will be launched some weeks later.
Going by the patent filings of Samsung, the Galaxy Note 5 will incorporate a few unique features. A report in Ecumenical News states that sometime back Samsung had applied for a patent (No. 30-0757696) with the Korean Intellectual Property Office for "foldable tablet patent with two seams" and "flexible screen that can be folded into three segments."
The media outlet further claimed that in November 2014, Lee Chang-hoon, Samsung Electronics' vice-president (Business Strategic Group) said that they might introduce the advanced foldable display technology in its upcoming 10-inch tablet as well as 5.5-inch smartphone.
Meanwhile, PatentlyMobile reports that the US Patent & Trademark Office has also published Samsung's patent application related to the company's Galaxy Note with S-pen. It would be possible to eject the S-pen automatically via a special voice command or a gesture and will remain locked till the user gives a simple gesture on the device's screen.
Some reports have claimed that the Galaxy Note 5 will be available in two variants - the Galaxy Note 5 code named Project Noble, which will come with a flat display, and Galaxy Note 5 Edge code named Project Zero 2 with dual-edge curved screen.
According to Know Your Mobile, the device will be powered by a strong processor named high-density EPOP memory, which "combines 3GB LPDDR3 DRAM, 32GB eMMC (embedded multi-media card) and a controller" and is likely to be called Exynos 7422.
It is expected that the Galaxy Note 5 and Note 5 Edge will sport a 5.4-inch or 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display respectively, be powered by Exynos 7422 processor, have a 16GB internal storage, 4GB RAM, boast a 16 MP main rear camera and 8 MP front-facing snapper.
The reports further state that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 5 may possibly come with a 5.9-inch AMOLED UHD display with 2160 x 3840 pixel powered by a 4100mAh battery and feature USB 3.1 Type-C port.
