Samsung Galaxy J2 Launch Date News: Release Date, Specs, Price and Availability

South Korean tech titan has made an official announcement about its new budget smartphone, Galaxy J2, which will succeed the well-received Galaxy J. Details regarding the device's key configurations, and its price and release date are noted below.

Quoting GSM Arena, IB Times reports that the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy J2 include a pocket-friendly 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display together with qHD (340 x 960 pixels) screen resolution.

Under the hood, the upcoming Galaxy J2 packs Samsung's proprietary Exynos 3475 chip, together with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. The device is backed by 1 GB RAM. In terms of sofware, the handset runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.

In the camera department, apparently the Galaxy J2 sports a modest 5-megapixel rear-facing shooter and a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper for selfies. The handset houses a self-effacing 2,000 mAh battery unit to keep the lights on. In addition to the standard connectivity options, the Galaxy J2 also offers 4G LTE and dual-SIM support.

In addition, the Galaxy J2 sports a unique Ultra Data Saving Mode, which has been apparently been in Samsung's R&D facility based in India. In fact, Samsung developed this mode keeping regional needs in mind. People using the Galaxy J2 can enable the Ultra Data Saving Mode to save up to 50 percent on the data plan. Moreover, it will also free up to 11 percent of the RAM usage. The best part of it is that users can double the handset's stand-by time by using this mode.

As far as the price of the Galaxy J2 is concerned, the new handset will reportedly cost about $125. Moreover, the device will hit the store shelves starting Sept. 21 in India. At this point, there is no official information regarding the release date outside India.
