Samsung Galaxy A7 News: Slimmest Samsung Handset Available in U.S. on Amazon Unlocked for $442
For quite some time now, the Samsung Galaxy A7 was available for purchase in various regions of the world, but the South Korean electronics company is yet to officially release the device in North America. Nevertheless, potential customers in the U.S. as well as other countries can now avail the device via Amazon.
Quoting Phone Arena, IB Times reports that the customers can acquire the unlocked Samsung Galaxy A7 for $442 on Amazon, without having to pay an additional charge for shipping. While the handset comes in three colors - white, black and gold, Amazon is only selling the white and black versions.
The Galaxy A7 belongs to Samsung's A series models, which also include the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3. The Galaxy A7 is the most costly as well as powerful among the three models of the A series. In addition, the Galaxy A7 is also the slimmest smartphone manufactured by Samsung so far. It measures 6.3 millimeters (about 1/4 inch) thick. It weighs 141 grams (roughly 5 ounces).
As far as the specs of the Galaxy A7 are concerned, the device measures 151 mm x 76.2 mm (5.94 inches x 3 inches) and comes with a 5 1/2-inch Super AMOLED display supporting full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device is powered by Exynos 5430 chipset that houses an octa-core processor, while the SoC is backed by 2 GB of RAM. The internal storage of the device is 16 GB, which can be expanded up to 64 GB using a microSD.
The device boasts a 13-megapixel rear camera, as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper for selfies. The Galaxy A7 was launched with Android v4.4.4 KitKat OS, but. Currently, the device is receiving a Lollipop update. The device is equipped with a decent battery of 2,600 mAh unit.
According to Phone Arena, Amazon does not have a huge stock of Galaxy A7 units. However, the supplies are expected to be replenished soon. Although the handset is also manufactured in another chipset variant of Snapdragon 615, that variant is currently unavailable for purchase in the U.S.
Moreover, the Galaxy A7 devices available for purchase on Amazon do not support 4G LTE connectivity. Nevertheless, the device is available with 3G connectivity on A&T and T-Mobile along with dual SIM capabilities.
