Samsung Apple Lawsuit Settlement: $548 Million Payment Damage Case Not Over Yet?
Who would have forgotten the line by the late Steve Jobs that says: "I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product?" The statement was made five years ago, but still the war between Samsung and Apple is not yet over up until now. The $548 million dollars' lawsuit payment damage seems to be continuing to increase as the court agreed to settle the problem outside the US.
According to PC World, both parties seem to be in good leading when it comes to settlement of the issue. Apple gave the consent to end the problem by working it out outside the US. The two smart phone companies still have a case to be settled in countries such as in South Korea, Japan, Australia, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and U.K. On the other hand, Samsung and Apple have left lawsuit cases to be settled in the U.S. District Court in places like Northern District California and in San Jose Division.
In an email from Samsung confirmed that they will settle the litigation outside the US. In addition, the email does not suggest that licensing arrangements is included in the settlement, and for that the existing lawsuit in the US will be pursued. On the other hand, Apple confirmed the email in a statement.
Still the existing trial in the US demands for Samsung to pay about $929 million US dollars for damages. However, an appeal was made that states to decrease the payment from $929 million down to $119 million US dollars. As of the moment, there is no final verdict yet for the infringement lawsuite case.
