SAG Awards 2016 News Update: 'Orange Is the New Black' Biggest Winner At Screen Actors Guild Awards

Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black" was the biggest winner at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 30, held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. The SAG Awards was definitely a night to remember for the show's cast and crew.

The show won the Television Category's Best Comedy Ensemble while Actress Uzo Aduba won best actress for her role in the show. It would be the second straight year that the show and as well as Aduba won the award.

According to TV Guide, the show is the fourth to win the award for two consecutive years; joining the likes of Desperate Housewives, The Office and Sex and the City. The only award that the show did not take was the Best Actor for a Comedy Ensemble award, the award which Jeffrey Tambor received for his role in the show "Transparent."

For the Drama Ensemble, "Downton Abbey" took the award for the best show while Kevin Spacey and Viola Davis won the best actor and actress awards, respectively.

In other news, Leonardo DiCaprio has won the Best Lead Actor award for the first time for this role in "The Revenant." It was said that the winner of the SAG awards' lead actor role most likely win the Oscars' award as well. 17 out of 21 SAG best lead actor winners have gone on to win the Oscar for the same category. The last 11 years has been a living proof of this statement. This may really be the year for DiCaprio.
