Software-As-A-Service (SaaS) In 2016: What Job Prospects Can Be Found In This Growing Industry?
The Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) industry is projected to grow 20% in 2016 from $31 billion last year. What employment opportunities are there in this sunshine industry?
In the larger public cloud services sphere, seen to grow $204 billion this year, the projected $37.7 billion is only behind cloud advertising ($90.3 billion) and cloud business processing services ($42.6).
According to Tech Republic, the SaaS in 2016 remains to be a specialized industry with the most in demand job being the analyst who is an expert in software platforms like Moz, Domo and Stata. But there are jobs available for software-as-service in customer relationship management, e-commerce and marketing as well.
The article also highlighted the high demand for administrative assistants in the industry who will complete tasks like emails, handling newsletters, prepare documents, organize events and just about run the office.
Other jobs in SaaS in 2016 include customer service representatives, project managers and sales representatives.
There are key trends in SaaS in 2016 and these include vertical and horizontal software-as-service, mobile-first platform, unbundling of SaaS, micro-SaaS business, messaging apps transitioning to platforms, software AI and automation and the SaaS based marketplace.
Research firm Gartner said that the SaaS will only grow some more, not just in 2016 but beyond.
"As software vendors shift their business models from on-premises licensed software to public cloud-based offerings, this trend will continue," said the Gartner statement cited by ZDNet. "In addition, the entry of some major software vendors into the public cloud last year will fuel growth of the SaaS market moving forward."
