Russell Crowe News: 'Noah' Actor Talks Spending Time with Tom Cruise & Look into Scientology

A never before told revelation just came from actor Russell Crowe's lips during his interview with a magazine; sharing that he once looked into the highly criticized and famous religion, Scientology when he became friends with a Scientology member and Hollywood actor Tom Cruise.

Cruise has been known to be part of the religion which was recently put under the microscope after a documentary film on HBO about it aired. But it was never known until now that actor Crowe once had an interest in joining the religion.

"From a young kid, I was quite interested in religion," Crowe shared while talking to People Magazine, "When I met Tom Cruise when he was married Nicole [Kidman], we were spending a bit of time together so I thought I'd find out a little bit about what he was into," he added.

Indeed, the religion was quite interesting for the actor revealing that he did his homework and researched about it himself. "I found a video in the video store about Scientology and I watched it," the 51-year-old actor shared adding, "It wasn't that informative. But I brought it up with Tom and I thought he was really cool."

Crowe also shared how Cruise was respectful of his decision and not forced him to join. "He didn't try to sell me a pair of shoes. He just said, 'If it's something that interests you, you'll pursue it.' And I think that happens with any kind of religion if you come to it by your own discovery," Crowe said.

But apparently after researching and thinking everything through Crowe shared that he did not pursue his friend's religion sharing that "I never ended up putting my two cents down on anybody's table. I've never graced [Scientology's] doorway," Crowe shared.

Reportedly, other Hollywood celebrities that are part of Scientology include John Travolta, Kirstie Alley, Danny Masterson, and Laura Prepon.
