Ronda Rousey Next Fight News: Bethe Correia Calls Out UFC Champ - 'The Belt is Going to be Mine'
After her second straight incredibly quick victory, in two matches that lasted a combined 30 seconds, many fans wondered who could be next for UFC Women's Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. It didn't take very long for them to get an answer, unfortunately for fans eager to see her in action again, they're going to have to settle for seeing her on the big screen.
Rousey, who starred in last year's "Expendables 3," and has upcoming roles in "Fast and Furious 7" as well as the "Entourage" movie, has reportedly committed to making another film, Variety reports.
Produced by Peter Berg, the film "Mile 22" will be featuring the dominant champion as a CIA field operative battling extreme political corruption, Cagewriter reports.
While Rousey appears to deserve the time and opportunity to pursue other endeavors after cleaning out her entire division by beating all of the top five contenders, one fighter doesn't quite agree.
"She did a good thing that was bringing the UFC the female fights. She convinced Dana to do it, but I don't think she's a good champion," said undefeated Brazilian bantamweight Bethe Correia. "I think she's really selfish. She just thinks about herself, about making movies, dressing well, showing up. I'm not gonna be like this. I'm gonna be the real champ. I'm gonna do something for the people. I'm gonna be the people's champ."
Correia has made it no secret she wants a shot at the champ, calling out Rousey after her impressive win in UFC 177.
"I have a message for Ronda Rousey," she said through an interpreter. "I want her belt and I'm coming to take it. The belt is going to be mine."
And according to an earlier report, the champion was more than ready to oblige. "As soon as [Correia] started talking, [Rousey] texted me and said, "I want that fight, I want it now. I want it before someone else beats her,' and I said, "Calm down, lady. You've got other people to fight. We'll figure it out," UFC president Dana White said.
