'Rogue One' Movie News, Release Date, Trailer: What’s The Connection Between Rebel Hero Jyn Erso And Rey?

The trailer for "Rogue One" triggered a slew of news reports and rumors, particularly on the link between rebel hero Jyn Erso and Rey of "A Star Wars Story."

The events in "Rouge One" happened before "Star Wars Episode IV," when the Galactic Empire is just starting to construct the Death Star.

However, the story of Jyn Erso resonates in Rey's (surviving on her own until she's forced to fight) which led to the fan theory that Felicity Jones' character might be the latter's mother, after all. That's in stark contrast to the previous theory that Luke Skywalker is Rey's father.

JJ Abrams already talked to EW about Rey's parentage as he said that she's not going to find out her origins anytime soon.

"What I meant was that she doesn't discover them in Episode VII. Not that they may not already be in her world," he said.

But Daisy Ridley debunked the theory that Jyn Erso in "Rogue One" is her mom, as reported by MTV News.

"I'm not being funny you guys, but just because she's white and got brown hair... it doesn't mean she's my mom," she said.

The synopsis for "Rogue One" movie, according to the news article from Digital Spy, reads:

"?Following the foundation of the Galactic Empire, a wayward band of Rebel fighters comes together to carry out a desperate mission: to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor's rule."

The movie stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Genevieve O'Reilly, Mon Mothma, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Alistaire Petrie and Forest Whitaker, who according to rumors will play a one-legged bounty hunter affiliate.

"Rogue One" movie will premiere on Dec. 16, 2016. There should be plenty of news and rumors in the coming months, which will be published here before then.
