‘Rock Band 3’ To Receive New DLC Songs Update Roughly Two Years After Release

Video game development company Harmonix announced that after nearly two years, 'Rock Band 3' will be getting new songs for its Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles.

The Massachusetts-based company made the announcement on its official website on Monday, and also introduced the new songs.

"After a brief hiatus (cough21 monthscough) we're releasing brand new Rock Band DLC tomorrow!" wrote Harmonix manager Aaron Trites, "New tracks from Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold and Foo Fighters will hit Xbox 360 and PS3 on Tuesday 1/13."

The post also listed the songs that will be appearing.

Arctic Monkeys' "R U Mine?" from their 2013 album AM will serve as the Grammy Award winning band's debut to the game. The often requested Avenged Sevenfold will be appearing on the Rock Band Music store with "Shepherd of Fire" off their 2013 album Hail to the King. Lastly is the Foo Fighter's "Something From Nothing," which is off the band's latest album Sonic Highways released last year.

The tracks will be available in the United States at $1.99 per song on Jan. 13, while Europe territories will have it by Jan. 21 at €1.49 and £0.99 per song.

The new tracks will be added to the game's library of songs, which showcases more than 1,400 artists and more than 3,500 tracks.

Nick Chester, Harmonix's PR manager, talked to the writers of GameSpot about their decision to release more DLCs now, especially after they claimed to have ended DLC support in April 2013. He said it was mainly because of the opportunity to add the three bands to the game.

"We couldn't pass it up," Chester said, "Also, we wanted to see if we could still do it. Turns out we can. It's sort of like riding a bike."

When asked about the possibility of more tracks in the future, however, Chester added, "Let's not get ahead of ourselves."
