Williams was born Robin McLaurin Williams in Chicago, Illinois on July 21, 1951, and launched his legendary career as a cast member on the brief comedy series 'The Richard Pryor Show' in 1977.
However, the actor was best known for playing alien Mork from the classic television series 'Mork and Mindy' from 1978-1982, after he appeared in an episode titled "My Favorite Orkan" on 'Happy Days' in 1978.
"I am completely and totally devastated. What more can be said?," said 'Mork and Mindy' co-star Pam Dawber in a statement.

Furthermore, the star is also remembered for the role as Daniel Hillard (aka Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire) in the 1993 'Mrs. Doubtfire' movie remake which starred Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan.
The actor grew up in a family where he was raised in the Episcopal Church, while his mother practiced Christian Science.
"I have that idea of Chicago protestant, Episcopal - Catholic light: half the religion, half the guilt," said Williams to Early Show's Hannah Storm when described his religious character Rev. Frank in the 'License to Wed' movie in 2007, "He has the program working for - praying for the teamsters and also working for the children, has the full Chicago. You know, Chicago - city where the dead can vote."
Williams was married to Valerie Velardi (1978-1988) and fathered Zachary Pym "Zak" Williams. He then married Marsha Garces (1989-2008), and fathered Zelda Rae Williams and Cody Alan Williams. After his divorce with Garces, he married Susan Schneider on October 23, 2011.
"This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings," said Schneider in a statement, "I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."
Williams is survived by his third wife three children Zachary, Zelda and Cody.
"You - you alone will have the stars as no one else has them...In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night... You - only you will have stars that can laugh," wrote Zelda via Twitter on Monday, "I love you. I miss you. I'll try to keep looking up."
When he passed away on August 11, 2014, he was 63 years old.
