Rihanna New Music News: Pop Star Releases 'Towards the Sun' for DreamWorks Animated Film 'Home'
Pop idol Rihanna released a new single "Towards the Sun" in correlation with her upcoming role in Home, a DreamWorks animated film that is set to release March 27.
The song is one of many that Rihanna curated for the Home soundtrack. Other artists to appear on the soundtrack are Charli XCX, Jennifer Lopez and Kieza. Her highly anticipated eighth album with recording studio Yeezy has still yet to have a release date.
"Towards the Sun" has a very different feel to it as it focuses on a more positive note than her darker and edgier songs in past albums. Recently, Rihanna's collaboration song with Kanye West and Paul McCartney "FourFiveSeconds" has received both critical and commercial success with the song topping number four on the Billboard Hot 100 at its peak.
Rihanna is also voicing a young girl named Tip in Home as well as curating the soundtrack. The film also stars Jim Parsons as the character Oh, Steve Martin as Captain Smek, Jennifer Lopez as Lucy, and Matt Jones as Kyle.
Home is based on a critically acclaimed children's book called The True Meaning of Smekday, written by Adam Rex. The film is said to be about an alien race that are looking for a new home after their planet is destroyed. Tip, played by Rihanna, teams up with one of the aliens and sets out on a crazy road trip to save the planet.
According to Rolling Stone, Rihanna has also appeared in films like Annie (2013), This is the End, Bring It On: All or Nothing, and Battleship. Fans of the artist don't have to wait for the movie in order to hear her new song. "Towards the Sun" is now available for listening via various music sites.
