'Rick and Morty' Season 3 Renewal News: Adult Swim Renews Show for Third Season
Rick And Morty, which premiered on December 2, 2013, is slated to go into Season 3 after a solid performance on Season 2's premiere proved the animated comedy series' pulling power.
Cartoon Network's late-night programming block Adult Swim has confirmed that it will pick up the series for another season and fans will continue to be tickled by the wild intergalactic trips of Rick the sociopathic scientist and his not-too-bright grandson, Morty. And this time it will be for free from the entertainment website.
Justin Roiland, co-creator and executive producer, said, "I am blown away by the seemingly instant success of Rick and Morty I look forward to continuing their adventures!"
Roiland is also the voice behind the irrepressible Rick Sanchez.
Season 2 saw Rick still living with his daughter Beth (Sarah Chalke) and her family. He got into crazier and zanier trouble, pulling his grandson in along the way.
The show, ranked #1 in its time slot by all key adults and men, also charted triple-digit delivery gains over season 1.
"It's an honor to see Rock and Morty join the exclusive club of shows with over 19 episodes," co-creator and executive producer Dan Harmon said in his statement.
"It's time to demand that the network allow us to draw the characters going to Hawaii." He jokingly added.
In season 3, you will see how Rick ends up pulling the whole family into his nutty intergalactic adventures.
Son-in-law Jerry (Chris Parnell) and granddaughter Summer (Spencer Grammer) join Rick and Morty and they face new threats and uncover a mysterious, secret past of one of their family members.
Rick and Morty joked that Season 3 would air in the winter of 2020 on social media, but as of yet there is no set date for the zany scientist's return.
