Washington Redskins NFL 2015 News: Robert Griffin III Says ‘I Feel like I’m the Best QB in the League’
Following the end of training camp this past weekend, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III sat down for an interview with WJLA's Alex Parker to talk about where he stands as both a player and person. While the two spoke about a breadth of topics, the controversial quarterback made one pronouncement that appears to lean toward outlandish when he said he believes he's the best quarterback in the league.
"I don't feel like I have to come out here and show anybody anything or why I'm better than this guy or better than that guy," Griffin said. "It's more about going out and affirming that for me, I go out and I play, I know I'm the best quarterback on this team. I feel like I'm the best quarterback in the league and I have to go out and show that," he added.
NFL on CBS ran a poll on their Facebook page asking fans if they agreed with RG3's statements, and as one would be inclined to expect, a vast majority of the respondents answered "No."
A CBSSports.com article ran a PointAfter.com graphic showing how Griffin fared compared to the rest of the league in terms of passing yards in the last three seasons.
In those three seasons, Griffin only had more passing yards than the league average just once (2013), falling just below the mark in 2012 (3,200 vs. 3,500) and managing just a little over half of that mark (1,694) in 2014.
"Any athlete at any level, if they concede to someone else, they're not a top competitor, they're not trying to be the best that they can be," Griffin clarified. "There's guys in this league that have done way more than me. But, I still view myself as the best because that's what I work toward every single day."
