'Resident Evil 7' Release Date News: Title Arriving In January 2017; Potential ‘Resident Evil 2’ Remake?

New details on the release date and gameplay of Capcom's "Resident Evil 7" have surfaced.

"Resident Evil 7," with the subtitle "Biohazard" is set to be released on Jan. 24, 2017, Tech Advisor has learned. Announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016 or E3 2016, the upcoming game title is going to be released for the PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One; though it can also be played on the PlayStation VR.

With regard the price, the game can be pre-ordered on Amazon and PSN store (in the United States). The title costs about $76 for the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft versions while about $91 for the Xbox One version. It is revealed that the prices are subject to change as its release date becomes nearer.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" has return to its horror roots by bringing back its first-person horror survival gameplay, which transitions from the third-person shooter embodied by its predecessors. Capcom has released a demo for the upcoming title; however, the game in the demo is not viewed as "Resident Evil" by Gadgets.

As per the publication, Capcom's first-person approach on the game resembles the one from "Outlast," in addition to a "more vulnerable" protagonist. The publication added that these are in contrary to the third-person action-geared gameplay gamers have been acquainted with. According to the report, such features have removed the elements of what the series was known for.

Meanwhile, NeoGAF user Persona7 uploaded a photo on the said forum website. The image sees a recording containing the name Clancy Javis at an abandoned house, as well as the date June 01, 2017 and the recording time "00:00:04:37." As per Persona 7, one string matches the product ID of the PS1 release of the director's cut, which also included a "Resident Evil 2" demo. Thus, it is speculated that there a "Resident Evil 2" remake is not far from happening.

Overall, Capcom's "Resident Evil 7" is set to come out on Jan. 24, 2017.
