'Resident Evil 6' Movie Cast & Release Date: Ali Carter to Return for ‘The Final Chapter’

It has been confirmed that 'Heroes' star Ali Later will be returning to 'Resident Evil 6: The Final Chapter' to reprise her role as Clarie Redfield. The character was last seen in 'Resident Evil: Extinction' and 'Resident Evil: Afterlife.'

According to Latin Post, the news regarding Later's return to the movie was first carried by Deadline.

Meanwhile, Screen Rant reports that before being signed on for the movie, Larter has been preoccupied with the TNT drama series 'Legends' along with Sean Bean. 'Legends' Season 2 will premiere in September.

The sixth and final movie in the 'Resident Evil' franchise kick off from where the events of 'Resident Evil: Retribution,' which was released in 2012, ended. The story revolves around Project Alice, who races against time to prevent the evil Red Queen from completely eliminating the final remaining humans on earth.

Ali Later will be joining Milla Jovovich and Wentworth Miller in the upcoming movie. Jovovich played the lead role, Alice, in all of the 'Resident Evil' films that so far and will return to reprise the character once more.

On the other hand, Miller will portray the role of Claire's brother Chris Redfield. In addition, it is expected that Bingbing Li will also return to the movie for portray the character of Ada Wong.

Initially, 'Resident Evil 6: The Final Chapter' was slated for a September 2014 release date, but Cinema Blend reports that it was delayed since director Paul W. S. Anderson was still trying to finish the second draft of the script in June 2014. Production of the film suffered another delay in August 2014 as Jovovich and husband Anderson, were expecting their second child.

Finally, filming of the movie is about to start later this month with location set on Cape Town, South Africa. In addition, the crew will explore other places for the final chapter of the franchise.

'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' is now set to hit theaters some time in 2016.
