Red Unveils Scarlet-W, Scarlet-W Monochrome: Better Quality In Better Price

Camera lovers can now enjoy taking videos wih cinema quality at affordable price with Red's The Scarlet-W and Scarlet-W monochrome prograde cameras.

According to Red's official website, Scarlet-W and Scarlet-W monochrome have the power to shoot in 5K RAW and 2K ProRes with their Dragon sensor, which can also be found in other Red cameras. Both also showcases a slow motion feature at 60fps in 5K widescreen 150fps at 4K and 300fps at 2K.

The new Scarlet-W and Scarlet-W monochrome cameras are versatile, according to No Film School. They enable camera users to change the mounts, which cannot be done with Raven.

The prograde cameras almost share the same specifications. The only difference is the black and white Dragon sensor, which can be found in the Scarlet-W monochrome. Also, the monochrome camera model gives better and highly defined image quality. Some of Red's previous camera models can be upgraded, but this feature is not applied when it comes to upgrading to Scarlet-W.

Comparing Raven and Scarlet-W, the following is designed for drone video capture while the latter is meant for beginners who would like to explore photography or video taking with Red's prograde cameras. Though Raven is comparably smaller than Scarlet-W, the size different is not significant.

The price of both camera models is within the price spectrum of Red's high-end 6K camera, Epic, which costs $29,000, and the reently released Raven, which costs $5,950. For owners of the Scarlet Dragon, the new entry-level package will be $2,500 off, which means that the original price of $14,500 will become $12,000.
