'Red Dead Redemption 2' News, Rumors: Sequel Game to Take Place in Japan?

Game makers of GTA V, Rockstar, are speculated to set their the 2nd Red Dead Redemption game in Japan which would reveal new game protagonist named Yojimbo, as inspired by the 1961 Akira Kurosawa movie.

A forum poster on Cyberland, allegedly made an announcement that the game is expected to release in October 2016. "My source says that Rockstar is currently finalizing their plans for GTA V and are going to focus on RDR2 now," He says, "Rockstar expects the game to be out by October next year as long as the devs doesn't hit any roadblocks during development."

With that in mind, this new Red Dead Redemption game may not debut their trailer during the E3 convention in Los Angeles. No further information from Rockstar has been made public. Rockstar hasn't confirmed any of the speculations including the rumored plot change.

In last year's, Asked and Answered on Rockstar's website, fans asked about the RDR reboot. The team responded, "It's wonderful to see so much excitement and enthusiasm for the Red Dead series, and nearly 5 years after Red Dead Redemption's release(!)."

Further on, "As we've mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as Red Dead Redemption, Bully and L.A. Noire, we don't always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won't get to them eventually." L.A. Noire was released in 2011 while Red Dead Redemption 1 was released in 2009, and Bully in 2006.

Back in February, Take Two made a controversial announcement during their financial conference call. The company has confirmed annual releases for NBA, WWE 2K, and a brand new Borderlands game for next gen platforms. "In addition, we have numerous unannounced titles in development, as well as innovative offerings designed to maximize player engagement," They said. There was no hint on RDR2 on this line up of "unannounced" titles and Take Two has denied its development.
