Christian rapper Trip Lee did an interview for Thisis50.com, and spoke about the misconception that gospel music and hip-hop embrace the Christian rap world.

"How is the response inside the Gospel world? Do people buy albums?" asked the interviewer Young Jack Thriller.

"I do see a huge shift on how people digest music. I think sometimes the gospel world assumes hip-hop just embraces us and they are like, 'We like them but they are little too hip-hop for us'. And I think hip-hop assumes the gospel world embraces us, but really we are kind of like somewhere weird in the middle where nobody really knows what to do with us," Trip shared.

He said although the group of fans may be smaller, they are more loyal because the music is impacting their lives and they are willing to support one another.

"I can't really speak to like 'oh the gospel world is buying.' I think our fan base because of music to them is more we just enjoy the music...we have a stronger fan base then most fan bases," he continued.

Trip says people ask him how he sells records since mainstream radio will not play Christian rap, and only gospel stations will dabble in it. Again, he pointed back to the loyal fan base that keeps him and his 116 brothers, Lecrae, Andy Mineo, Tedashii, and other rappers in general, active in their careers.

Trip also received the usual questions about being a Christian rapper and was also asked about his time as a preacher. For the complete interview, watch the video below:

He also addressed why he is more vocal about Jesus on his records than his label mates Lecrae, Andy Mineo, and others.
