Last December, shocking news circulated around the streaming music industry as speculations suggest the shutting down of Rdio.

The rumors started without an official confirmation from Rdio itself, but finally it was announced on December 22, they will be shutting down. After its official launching last August 2010, finally Rdio says everything will be over for the fans as they will be cutting off in giving info with what's the latest top of the chart music and other news.

The official announcement was coupled with an email to the fans confirming that after one week they will be closing the company. However, Rdio pleaded to the public to stay calm as they will be passing the throne to one of the trusted music online provider the "Pandora".

According to Macrumors, the online music streaming services Rdio is selling off the shares to Pandora for $75 million US dollars. Along with the package deal is keeping the employees in the work for decent job's sake.

On the other hand, The Verge reported that Pandora will take good care of Rdio's legacy by recreating and developing its services for everybody's enjoyment. They will even absorb some of the best employees to maintain the good quality of online music streaming that they once experience from Rdio.

For now, everyone is just waiting for Pandora for an updates if how the merging of Rdio will improve their services to the public.
