Razer Intel VR Gaming Camera News: New Device Comes With Depth Sensing and Motion Tracking

Razer and Intel are teaming up to develop a camera perfect to bring virtual reality to the PC as well as for streaming games on Twitch. An announcement in the partnership was made by the two companies during the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco on Tuesday.

IB Times reports that the camera will be founded on Intel's RealSense technology, which enable tracking the player's movements and translate them in-game. In fact, this is a wonderful way to integrate a VR headset, such as Razer's OSVR, into gameplay.

A statement issued by Razer said that the streamers come with several competences, including "significantly enhanced game broadcasting." According to the company, this also comprises "automatic background removal" (therefore, no more green screens are likely), for "a more entertaining and immersive experience." As a result, users will see a suspended body placed somewhere on the game screen instead of a white box that nearly all streamers appear in.

As expected, Razer is handling the design for the product, which is now in concept stage and may change in future. The report quotes Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO, saying, "Gamers will, we expect, be able to enhance their broadcasting and VR experience in unprecedented ways."

As of now, the device is unnamed. Moreover, though Razer or Intel has not officially announced the possible release date of the device, speculation is rife that it may come early on in 2016. This appears to be credible considering the fact that demonstrations are being given during the Intel Developer Forum this week.
