Rapper Vanilla Arrested News: '90s Rap Star Charged with Burglary

The popular '90s rapper, Vanilla Ice was arrested for a robbery that occurred sometime between December and February in a $1 million home that was going through foreclosure, according to the Lantana Police.

The artist got out on bail and made a statement to the press saying that the burglary and grand theft charges he's facing are a misunderstanding, according to CNN.

He said, "It's just blown out of proportion. I wish you guys would focus on the good things I've done."

He was released from the Beach County Jail on a $6,000 bond, according to the CNN Affiliate WPBF.

The artist, whose real name is Robert Matthew Van Winkle, was charged of stealing furniture, a pool heater, bicycles and other items from a foreclosure property in the Miami suburb of Lantana, according to NBC.

The police, speaking to WPFB, said, "During the investigation, it was determined Winkle played a role in the burglary and theft. A search warrant was obtained and executed in unincorporated Palm Beach County in which several of the stolen items were recovered at a residence under the care and control of Winkle."

Also, the police have stated that the property has been returned to its rightful owner.

The artist was one of the prime suspects, initially, since he was working next door, renovating another home.

According to TMZ, which first reported the arrest, has reported that the incident allegedly involved the house being renovated for Van Winkle's reality show, "The Vanilla Ice Project.'

The show, which airs on DIY Network, features the artist renovating houses around the neighborhood. The show, which started in 2010, is now, well on its fifth season.

However, it is still not certain if the house being renovated was part of the show, since there has been no confirmation from the DIY Network. A representative of the network said, "DIY Network has been made aware of this situation and is currently looking into the matter," according to Washington Post.
