‘Rambo 5’ Plot Rumors: ‘Rambo: Last Blood’ Will Not Depict Protagonist Fighting ISIS Terrorists

The rumor mill is abuzz with reports that Sylvester Stallone has himself announced at the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con 2015 that the story of 'Rambo 5' - which is titled 'Rambo: Last Blood,' would narrate John Rambo's fight against the ISIS terrorists in the African deserts. However, this rumor has now proved to be a hoax.

Citing the rumors, Christian Today reported that that during a panel held by Stallone at the Comic-Con, the actor reportedly said, "We have teams scouting Iraq and parts of Syria where ISIS have their greatest strongholds. We're working with the locals there to help deliver the most intense and realistic 'Rambo' movie experience ever."

According to Rolling Stone, a representative for Stallone has, however, confirmed that the actor did not make these statements. In fact, Stallone was not even present at the 2015 Comic-Con, the representative said.

While the statement issued by Stallone's representative has put the lid on the rumors relating to the Rambo-versus-ISIS fight, this does not mean the Stallone is not working on another 'Rambo' film. In December, Stallone took to his Twitter handle to announce that after completing 'Rambo: Last Blood,' he would be pushing through with the 'Scarpa' film, which is based on notorious gangster Greg Scarpa.

As of now, no additional details regarding the purported film have yet been released. In fact, Stallone and his team are yet to pick a director. In addition, they have also not confirmed that a script is ready or in development. According to earlier rumors from 2013, the purported 'Scarpa' film would be titled 'Rambo: The Last Stand' and would show Rambo fighting a drug cartel in Mexico.

Meanwhile, Stallone is going back to his previous work, with 'Creed,' a spin-off of the 'Rocky' movies, which will hit theaters soon. This is an indication that the actor is sure to revisit 'Rambo.'

In the most recent movie of the 'Rambo' franchise released in 2008, fans saw the protagonist rescuing missionaries in hostile territories in Burma. The movie ended with the titular character returning home to the United States, ending his story effectively.
