'Rainbow Six Siege' News: Player Count Doubles; BattlEye Punishes Cheaters [TRAILER]

Along with talks on punishment for cheaters of Ubisoft's "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege," it is revealed the the number of the title's players has become twice the original number.

"Rainbow Six Siege's" player base has doubled, according to IGN. In a statement, as cited by the publication, Ubisoft said that the daily player total was higher now that it had been when they had first shipped the game nine months ago. It is revealed that 40 percent is the actual count of user who play the game daily, with the peak influenced by the title's latest update, "Skull Rain."

In other news, Ubisoft also announced that punishment awaits for "Rainbow Six Siege" cheaters. According to Ubisoft's forum website, the studio mentioned that its cheat software tracker BattlEye had been tracking various cheating software after its release and now, it is set to punish game cheaters.

In a statement, Ubisoft said that starting today, they were going to begin banning players who had been detected by BattlEye, beginning with several waves of players that had been spotted by BattlEye since its integration.

"Rainbow Six Siege" is Ubisoft's first person shooting video game and successor to "Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots." Featuring missions like situations, in addition to online game modes, it places its focus on environmental wreckage and unity among players.

Ubisoft's "Rainbow Six Siege" was released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows on Dec. 1, 2015.
