PS4 Slim Release Date News: New Photo Leak, Sony to Unveil Device at E3 2015?
If the batch of allegedly leaked images of a PlayStation 4 Slim are any indication of validity, the purported upcoming game console from Sony will be much slimmer, possibly trimmer compared to Microsoft's Xbox One. Some media outlets are doubtful of the leaked images, which show the PS4 Slim as a sophisticated sleek device.
Website Pocket Lint has already expressed skepticism over the genuineness of the leaked images as well as the shape of the device. According to the website, the existing Sony console, PS4, is so small that it overheats when it is put inside an AV cabinet. If the upcoming device is even smaller, it may give rise to further cooling problems. In fact, the website has wondered as to where Sony will be positioning the vents and fans in such a slim structure.
On the other hand, there are others who do not rule out a relatively slimmer PlayStation from Sony. They argue that the Japanese tech firm has already offered two slimmer versions of the PS3 and the company may possibly do the same for the PS4. Nevertheless, Stuff TV is of the view that even if Sony comes out with a slimmer PS4, fans will have to wait for quite sometime to see it in the market.
Sony launched the PS4 console a little over a year ago - in November 2013. Usually, Sony releases the latest versions of its consoles a few years after launch of the original. Stuff TV also mentions that making vital improvements and modifications should help the console to have a slimmer build.
However, it is unfortunate that the leaked images do not provide any indication regarding the possible specs of the purported PS4 Slim. The leak, nevertheless, mentions that the upcoming console has been code named "Monolith," which appears at the base of the photographs. In any case, if Sony is really working on the purported PS4 Slim, fans will possibly come to know about its specs and features on June 16, as there are rumors that Sony may unveil the new device during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
