Gamers everywhere were happy to learn that the Playstation 4 console is set to be offered at a discount rate starting on October 9 this year. Interested consumers will be able to pick up a brand new system at the starting price of $349.99 USD.

According to the official blog post, Sony is looking to offer gamers the discounted deal price because the holiday season is drawing near. While this might come across as a great marketing strategy, it surely won't hurt consumers who still do not own the system.

John Koller VP of Platforms Marketing, SCEA writes, "Since the launch of PS4, we have been thrilled with the amount of gamers jumping into the world of PlayStation for the first time. If you haven't made the jump yet, and you're starting early on your holiday wish list, I have good news - we're dropping the price of the PlayStation 4 system in the U.S. and Canada."

The post goes on to say that the new price will also be available in Canada. "Starting tomorrow, October 9, you'll be able to pick up PS4 starting at the new price of $349.99 USD / $429.99 CAD (MSRP)."

While the new price is surely exciting for gamers who do not own the console as of yet, those interested in picking up a console/game bundle will also be able to do so. The post goes on to list many of the bundles available, and the dates that correlate to their availability.

Evidently, the new price and selection of deals comes natural to Sony as Microsoft Xbox One recently announced bundle deals of their own.

The official blog post went on to add, "Our goal at PlayStation has always been to provide the best gameplay experiences at the best value, and we feel this new compelling price will open the doors to even more gamers that have yet to purchase a system."
