Project Malmo News: Developers Can Write Codes Of Real-World Application
Releasing the source code for of Project Malmo was good news for "Minecraft" players. However, using the game as a platform, developers can also write codes of real-world applications.
According to the blog post from Microsoft written by Allison Linn, the source code was designed as a training tool for more complicated tasks.
"That's key to creating systems that can augment human intelligence - and eventually help us with everything from cooking and doing laundry to driving and performing lifesaving tasks in an operating room," she said.
As PC Mag explained in a news article, even the most technologically advanced artificial intelligence won't be able to dissect the meaning of each question, even if it's adept at finding the answer. Project Malmo seeks to address that gap.
With Project Malmo, Microsoft seeks to help researchers to create AIs that will try to find the nuance to each conversation. However, in a larger sphere, they can also learn from their own mistakes, for example.
For now, however, "Minecraft" fans are more interested in the news about what Project Malmo can do for them. And one of the new developments is the possibility of overclocking, which will revolutionize the game moving forwards.
With overclocking, they can accelerate the experiments within the world of "Minecraft" and thereby move on to another quicker due to the faster results.
"Project Malmo say another key advantage to the system is that it will let researchers compare their progress against the work of others, by seeing how well their theories perform in the same environment," Linn said.
