Prince William has officially started working as a pilot for East Anglian Air Ambulance, according to the Royal Palace's announcement about his involvement with Bond Air Services, the company who runs various ambulance aviation services in the UK.
The air ambulance company had just recently bought an EC145 T2 airbus helicopter which Prince William will be controlling together with a co-pilot who is likely to be an expert critical care paramedic and a senior medic specializing in intensive care, trauma, and anesthetics.
Bond Air Services spokesperson has told the press that the prince will "undertake job-specific training before piloting missions during the summer." The ambulance service has mission flights over Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk in the UK.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance is a charitable organization that launched in 2000. Prince William is due to earn an annual salary of £40,00 with the after-tax he intends to donate to the organization.
Prince William was a Flight Lieutenant for the Royal Air Force (RAF) search and rescue in 2009, eventually gaining qualification for being captain to be in charge of the Sikorsky Sea King Helicopter. In 2011, William had experienced airlifting victims off a sinking cargo ship in the Irish Sea to a hospital in Bangor, Northwest of Wales. His active service for RAF search and rescue had ended in 2013.
On a side note, the Prince is expecting his second child to Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge. The announcement of her pregnancy was made known in September 2014, and the pair are expecting the birth of their child in a few weeks time. The Prince is likely to have paternity leave to be present during Kate's labor and delivery.
