'Prey' Game News: Upcoming Title Is Not Related To Predecessors [TRAILER]
Fans are set to have a brand new gaming experience with Arkane Studios' "Prey," as the game is not linked to the first game.
In a statement, as cited by IGN, Arkane Studios head Raphael Colantonio said that upcoming title and not a remake, as it had no ties with the original. He said that one had to look at it like a re-imagining of the IP. In the gaming realm, IP refers to games like "Skyrim," "Resident Evil 6," "Max Payne 3," "Syndicate," "Mass Effect 3," and "Final Fantasy."
Colantonio also detailed that "Prey" is not all about guns. In the same interview, he said that it was vital to note that it was not just shooting, adding that it was more like a hybrid game where there were elements of a narrative, action, and role-playing game. For Arkane's head, one had some weapons, but he also had lots of other things and one of them is the ability to learn certain powers from the aliens.
Along with weapons that fans and gamers have seen from the past games, "Prey" is also set to feature scientific gadgets, to justify its setting in the International Space Station. As cited by Game Spot, Arkane's head also said that there was a lot of interesting gadgets that players could use that were not intended for combat, but could work out.
As per reports, the title is also comparable to the studio's other project, Dishonored, as he revealed that the psychological thrill angle revolves around the concept of identity.
Arkane Studios' "Prey" is set to be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows in 2017.
